Boomer's Diamond Notes: 2012 MLB All-Star Game

2012 Home Run Derby Champion, Prince Fielder.
Well, 2.5 hours of seeing how far and how many baseballs you can hit out of the park, the winner of the State Farm 2012 Home Run Derby was Prince Fielder with a total of 28 HR's (including 12 coming in the final round) beating out HR King, Jose Bautista in the finals 12-7. My favorite to win it all, Mark Trumbo finished 3rd (13 HR's), after losing a swing-off to Bautista (2-1), to see which guy would join Fielder in the finals. The two team captains were all but non-existent with NL cap, Matt Kemp hitting ONE home run (one less than a year ago) and AL cap/defending champion, Robertson Cano coming up empty (ZERO!) this time around while receiving a wave of boo's from the fans at Kauffman Stadium during his turn.

Tonight 7:30 PM EST on Fox
Now for the actually All-Star Game that will be played tonight at Kauffman Stadium. The 83rd edition of the "Midsummer Classic" pits the host AL squad against the NL squad, which after coming up short in the previous 13 All-Star games, have won the event the past two seasons. Since, 2003, after the TIE in the 2002 edition, the winning team of the All-Star Game is awarded home-field for their respective league in the World Series. Unlike, the NFL, NBA, NHL events, this game is worth watching, to see the best of the best around the MLB team up and put on a good show. I'm sure the Royals fans/brass are very excited to show off their ballpark, to the millions of viewers around the world, personality it looks like a beautiful place to take in a baseball game.

In other news, did you see this clip from the Rangers/Twins game this past weekend..."HERE COMES THE BOOM!"
