Boomer's Urban Renewal: Week 1 of the 2012-13 Bowl Season

Nevada & Arizona open up the Bowl Season in CFB,
with the New Mexico Bowl Saturday afternoon.
Not quite like March Madness in college hoops, but the college football bowl season always provides some entertainment over the holiday season. Things to watch for: bunches of unique stadiums/uniforms,  college finale's for a number of high-profile players, and coaches filling in for ones that have ran off to bigger and better ones.

Games during first week (Dec 15th-20th):

Gildan New Mexico Bowl (Albuquerque, N. M.)
Nevada vs. Arizona, Dec 15th 1 PM on ESPN
Famous Idaho Potato Bowl (Boise, ID)
Toledo vs. #22 Utah State, Dec. 15 4:30 PM on ESPN

S.D. County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl (San Diego, CA)
BYU vs. San Diego State, Dec. 20 8:00 PM on ESPN

Arizona over Nevada

Utah State over Toledo

BYU over San Diego State

*Bonus Pick*

Sunday Night Football (8:20, NBC): New England continues their home dominance in the month of December, beating the SF Niners on SNF in a close one.

  • As much as I dislike the NE Patriots, especially QB Tom Brady, they have put together an impressive record in the month of December at home, and I think they find a way to get past a tough 49ers defense in primetime.
